Automating invoice processing for a high-technology product manufacturer

The client, a high-technology product manufacturer, operates in multiple geographies and receives invoices from more than 150 suppliers in different languages. These were processed manually, demanding a large and skilled workforce with knowledge of all the languages in which the invoices were received.

Automation: A smart and sustainable solution

Eviden was appointed for a consulting engagement to help identify world-class tools and an approach best suited to the client’s document processing requirements. This was followed by process reengineering to optimize invoice processing and build the automation solution.
With a defined rollout approach, Eviden completed a pilot deployment at two plants – one in China and the other in the US. This ensured the supplier invoices and delivery note were received in Chinese and English. Next, a full-scale implementation across all suppliers were undertaken, with key users trained on how to onboard new document templates.

The automation solution processes 40,000 invoices per year, and extracts content from multiple languages including English, French and Chinese. This solution is fully scalable and covers more than 150 suppliers located across the world.
