Bern, Switzerland, 19th December 2024 Eviden, the Atos Group business leading in digital, cloud, big data and security, is pleased to announce its contribution to the successful completion of a key milestone in the Federal Office for Civil Protection’s (FOCP) “Preserving the Value of Polycom 2030” project, also known as WEP 2030. On December 19th, 2024, the last antenna site in Switzerland was successfully migrated to the new system, ensuring that the nationwide Polycom radio security network remains robust and future-proof.

Polycom is the nation-wide secure radio network for the rescue and security authorities and organizations (BORS). It enables radio contact within and between the various organizations of border guards, police, fire brigades, ambulances, civil protection and military support units. The successful migration guarantees that these essential services can continue to operate with enhanced reliability and security.

The final phase of migrations took place in the cantons of Ticino and Valais, where potential delays were anticipated due to challenging weather conditions. However, favorable weather during the scheduled period allowed for the completion of the work on time. The last antenna in the canton of Ticino was officially transferred to the new system on December 19, marking the culmination of this important project phase.

Eviden is providing the end-to-end solution in the project – comprising the technical concepts, the implementation with integration into the surrounding systems, as well as bridging both the legacy and the new technologies together. As the system integrator, Eviden ensures that both the old system and new system run smoothly alongside each other until the migration is completed. By providing expert support and the latest technologies, Eviden has helped FOCP to modernize the Polycom infrastructure and enhance the resilience of Switzerland’s public safety communications.

“This project milestone reflects Eviden’s dedication to supporting critical infrastructure projects that make a difference in people’s lives.” said Giovanni Conti, Head of Public Sector & Big Data & Security at Eviden AG, “we are pleased to have played a role in ensuring that the Polycom network continues to serve public safety authorities across Switzerland.”

“As a key player in critical communications, Eviden is proud to support the Swiss government through our role in the WEP 2030 project,” said Bernard Payer, Global Head of Mission Critical Systems, Eviden, at Atos Group. “This achievement shows not only our commitment to Switzerland but also our global ambition and capabilities in delivering essential communication solutions for governments worldwide. We are dedicated to strengthening critical infrastructure wherever it is needed.”
